Sensex Ends Above 25000, Oil & Gas Rally

Markets witnessed an upward rally in the latter half of the mid trading session today pulling the indices northward and scoring another life time high. Most of the buying was seen in Metals and Oil & Gas. The 50 share Nifty index closed up by 71 points at 7474 and the Sensex ended the day on a record high at 25019, higher by 213 points.
The Indian markets continued to be optimistic in today’s trading session. Metal sector was the out performer of the day, followed by Oil & Gas and Capital Goods. The Nifty index closed on a positive note by 71 points at 7474 and Sensex was 213 points up at 25019.
The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the positive side as the day ended with 2406 shares in green and 1130 shares in the red zone.
Top Nifty Gainers: BPCL gained 7.6% in today’s trade, followed by Sesa Sterlite, Hindalco, HUL and Cairn.
Top Nifty Losers: M&M closed the day lower by 1.41%, followed by HDFC Bank, IndusInd Bank, Cipla and Bank Of Baroda.
Most of the sectoral indices closed on a positive note. Metals witnessed a bull rally and surged up by 443 points. Oil & Gas and Capital goods also witnessed good positive trade up by 220 and 161 points respectively. Auto, Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also closed on positive note. However, Bankex closed on the lower end down by 69 points.
All the major Asian markets closed the day on a mixed note. Hang Seng closed down by 42 points, whereas Nikkei index closed up by 11 points. Taiwan and Shanghai also closed in the positive territory.
Buzzer: BPCL was up by more than 7.6% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 619. If the stock opens above this level, it may touch the Rs 630/650 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty Future closed around the technical level of 7500. If it opens and sustain above this level it may see some more appreciation up to 7540/7580 level.
