Indices Close On A Day’s High, Sensex Surges By 330 Points

The Indian markets after a sluggish morning trade woke up during the mid trading session and observed a superb upward movement by the indices led by Bankex and Oil & Gas. A firm opening from the European markets boosted the Indian sentiments and heavy buying was seen till the closing bell. Nifty index closed higher by 98 points at 7631 and Sensex was up by 330 points to trade at 25521.
The Indian markets witnessed a superb volatility in today’s trading session. The positive scenario continued till the closing session. Unexpected buying was observed during the closing buzz and as a result the Nifty closed on today’s higher level up by 98 points at 7631 and Sensex was up by 330 points at 25521. Both the indices ended higher in the range of 1.31%.
On the NSE, the advance-decline ratio was on the positive side, with 2310 shares closing in the green and 1231 shares in the red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: ONGC closed with the highest gains on the index, up by 4.26%. Asian Paints, Axis Bank, PNB and IndusInd Bank were among the others that ended the day higher.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: M&M closed lower by 1.42% today, followed by United Spirits, Hero Motocorp, HUL and Dr Reddy’s Labs.
All of the sectoral indices closed in the green, except FMCG. Bankex and Oil & Gas were up in the range of 392 and 324 points respectively. It was followed by Capital Goods and Metals, which closed higher by 302 points and 207 points. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also surged up by 134 points and 197 points respectively. IT, Metals and Health Care also showed positive momentum.
Asian markets were closed on a mixed note today. Hang Seng was down by 97 points followed by Shanghai Composite that lost 19 points. Nikkei and Taiwan closed on a positive note.
Buzzer: The stock of CRISIL saw bulk buying on the bourses after mid-session. It made an intraday and 52 week high of Rs 1689 and closed around the technical level of Rs 1649.35. If the stock opens above this level tomorrow, it may continue with the positive momentum.
Nifty Futures trend is indicating some medium term positive picture. However, may see profit booking on higher level.
