Nifty, Sensex Range Bound, Close On A Negative Note

It was range bound trading session on the last day of the week at Dalal Street, as indices saw some directionless movement. Baring Consumer Durables most of the sectors witnessed downward moves. The 50 share Nifty index closed down by 29 points at 7511 and Sensex ended lower by 96 points at 25105
From the opening session, indices continued to trade in small range. Today market saw some directionless movement but it closed in the negative territory. Most of the indices closed on the negative note, however, consumer durables witnessed up move by around 285 points. The Nifty saw a down move by 29 points at 7511 and Sensex was down by 96 points at 25105.
The advance-decline ratio on NSE was negative, as the day ended with 1596 shares in green and 1982 shares in the red zone.
Top Nifty Gainers: United Spirits gained 3.04% in today’s trade, followed by Cairn India, Axis Bank, Bajaj Auto and Power Grid.
Top Nifty Losers: M&M closed the day lower by 2.73%, followed by Tata Power, Hindalco, BPCL and NMDC.
Most of the sectoral indices closed on a negative note. Capital Goods and Auto stocks witnessed a selling in today’s trading session and went down by 130 points each. It was followed by Health Care and Metals that also saw a downward move around 100 points each, while Mid-Caps and Small-Caps closed also on the negative side. However, Consumer Durables sector provided a good support to the indices.
All the major Asian markets had a positive session on the bourses today and ended the day in the mixed territory. The Nikkei market closed down by 11 points, while Hang Seng witnessed positive move by 26 points, Taiwan and Kospi closed on the negative side as well.
Buzzer: M&M was down by more than 2.7% on the bourses today and closed down at the technical level of Rs 1150. If the stock opens below this level, it may touch Rs 1120/1100 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty future closed near its vital technical support level which is 7500. If it opens below this level, may see more profit booking scenario.
