Sensex Below 25350 Mark, Metals Down By 3%

The Indian markets continued with its downward momentum. Indices like Metals and Capital Goods declined sharply, followed by Banking and Auto, which went down by more than 200 points. At the end of the trading session, Nifty index was down by 80 points at 7568 and the Sensex ended the day on lower at 25329, down by 259 points.

The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the negative side as the day ended with 1151 shares in green and 2466 shares in the red zone.

Top Nifty Gainers: Bharti Airtel gained 2.24% in today’s trade, followed by Dr Reddys Lab, HCL Tech, ITC and Cipla.

Top Nifty Losers: Sesa Sterlite closed the day lower by 5.92%, followed by DLF, BHEL, Tata Power and IDFC.

Most of the sectoral indices closed on a negative note. Metals and Capital Goods witnessed unexpected fall by more than 300 points. Bankex and Auto also witnessed northward trade by more than 200 points. Mid-Caps, Small-Caps and Oil & Gas also closed on a negative note. However FMCG and Health Care closed on some positive note.

All the major Asian markets closed the day on a negative note. Hang Seng closed down by 56 points, whereas Nikkei index closed down by 454 points. KOSPI and Shanghai Composite also closed in the negative territory. 

Buzzer: DLF was down by more than 4.3% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 194. If the stock opens below this level, it may touch the Rs 185/177 mark in the next few sessions.

Nifty Future gave bearish signal after it closed below the technical level of 7600. The level of 7550/7500 will be the vital support level for next session.
