Indices Close On Positive Note

The indices witnessed a flattish session today. The market witnessed a positive opening but after mid-session, it stuck on the higher side. Auto stocks like M&M and Tata Motors were the out performers of the day, followed by Mid-Caps and Small-Caps which closed on a positive note. The Nifty index saw up trade by 57 points at 7625 and Sensex closed up by 190 points at 25519. 

The advance-decline ratio on NSE was positive, as the day ended with 2024 shares in green and 1591 shares in the red zone.

Top Nifty Gainers: M&M gained 6.45% in today’s trade, followed by Bank of Baroda, HDFC, Tata Motors and Sesa Sterlite.

Top Nifty Losers: GAIL closed the day lower by 4.22%, followed by Dr Reddys, Jindal Steel, NTPC and Tech Mahindra.

Most of the sectoral indices closed on a positive note. Auto and Capital Goods stocks rallied in today’s trading session, up by 412 points and 125 points respectively. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps were saw up trade of more than 50 points each. While Metals, IT and Consumer Durables also closed in the positive territory.

All the major Asian markets closed on the positive note in today’s session. The Nikkei market closed up by 352 points, while Hang Seng witnessed up move by 314 points. KOSPI and Shanghai also closed on the higher ends.

Buzzer: M&M was up by more than 6.4% on the bourses today and closed above the technical level of Rs 1300. If the stock opens above this level, it may touch the Rs 1320/1340 mark in the next few sessions.

Nifty future closed at higher end at around 7650 level, while it has a major hurdle at 7700/7720 level.
