Indices Close On Record Highs, Oil & Gas Up By 2.5%

The Indian markets continued with its upward momentum to close on a record high in today’s trading session. Most of the sectoral indices closed on a positive note. Bankex and Oil & Gas saw super uptrend and pulled the index on higher side. At the end of the trading session, Nifty index was up by 82 points at 7874 and the Sensex ended the day higher at 26390, up by 287 points.

Bankex and Oil & Gas saw super uptrend and pulled the index on higher side. At the end of the trading session, Nifty index was up by 82 points at 7874 and the Sensex ended the day higher at 26390, up by 287 points.

The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the positive side as the day ended with 2228 shares in green and 1376 shares in the red zone.

Top Nifty Gainers: BPCL gained 5.73% in today’s trade, followed by ONGC, Cipla, Axis Bank and BHEL.

Top Nifty Losers: ITC closed the day lower by 1.74%, followed by Infosys, HDFC, HCL Tech and TCS.

Most of the sectoral indices closed on a positive note. Bankex and Capital Goods were the outperformer of the day, up by 406 points and 350 points respectively. Oil & Gas, Auto, Metals and Health Care also witnessed positive trade of more than 200 points. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also closed on a higher note. However IT and FMCG closed in the negative territory.

All the major Asian markets closed the day on a mixed note. Hang Seng closed on a flat note, whereas Nikkei index closed up by 4 points. Taiwan and KOSPI closed in the negative territory.

Buzzer: BPCL was up by more than 5% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 648. If the stock opens above this level, it may touch the Rs 660/675 mark in the next few sessions.

Nifty Future gave a bullish crossover as it closed above the technical level of 7850. Going ahead, if the index opens above this mark, it may break the level of 7900.
