Indian IT Companies Expand Partnership With International Firms

Two Indian IT companies, Infosys and Tech Mahindra have bagged deals with international firms in a bid to expand their partnership. Read on to know more about the details of the deal.

Infosys, which is India's second largest IT Services Company, has inked a five year contract with British Petroleum. The deal aims to improve business processes of BPs in all key operations. As per the agreement, Infosys will provide IT services including corporate functions, upstream and downstream segments, energy trading and marketing. The geographical scope of the deal includes marketing in BP's main facilities in Houstan, Texas, and in the UK and also to extend the support in diverse locations like Azerbaijan, Angola, Brazil and Singapore. Infosys did not provide the financial details of the deal.

Rajesh K Murthy, Executive Vice President and Global Head, Energy, Commnications and Services, Infosys commented, "Winning this contract demonstrates how we have evolved as a supplier and continue to work collaboratively with BP across their range of activities."

On the other hand, Tech Mahindra, which is India's fifth largest IT services company bagged a deal with Canada's Bombardier Aerospace. As a part of the agreement Tech Mahindra will provide engineering solutions to Bombardier. Both the companies have signed a mutual agreement which will help Tech Mahindra to work with Bombardier globally.

Tech Mahindra aims to invest significantly in the infrastructure and talent in the Montreal region. The financials of the contract were not disclosed. The company has recently announced its plans to create jobs in Canada and aims to grow its Canada team to 1200 people in next five years.

Lakshmanan Chindambaram, Head of North America, Tech Mahindra, commented, "This is a major win for Tech Mahindra, Our deep domain in expertise in Aerospace and engineering coupled with the ambition of growing Canada as an Aerospace headquarters will be beneficial for our North American and Global customers."

The announcements by both these companies were made during the market hours. After the announcement, the share of Infosys was up by nearly 2% and Tech Mahindra was up by 1%.
