Sensex & Nifty Positive, Metals Surge

The Indian markets continued with the positive momentum in last few sessions. In today’s session, Metal stocks like Hindalco, Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Jindal Steel provided handsome support to the benchmark indices. Auto, Capital Goods and Consumer Durables also closed on a positive note. The Nifty ended up by 45 points at 8246 whereas Sensex closed 153 points up at 27395


The Indian markets continued with the positive momentum in last few sessions. In today’s session, Metal stocks like Hindalco, Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Jindal Steel provided handsome support to the benchmark indices. Auto, Capital Goods and Consumer Durables also closed on a positive note. The Nifty ended up by 45 points at 8246 whereas Sensex closed 153 points up at 27395.

The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the positive side as the day ended with 1617 shares in green and 1311 shares in the red zone.

Top Nifty Gainers: Asian Paints gained 4.20% in today’s trade, followed by Sesa Sterlite, Jindal Steel, Hindalco and Coal India.

Top Nifty Losers: PNB closed the day lower by 1.24%, followed by Cairn India, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra Bank and NMDC.

Most of the sectoral indices closed on a positive note. Metal stocks were the leaders in today’s session, up by 248 points. Auto and Health Care also closed in the positive territory, up by 277 points and 125 points respectively. Capital Goods, Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also closed in the positive territory. Banking index was down in today’s trade, by 31 points. 

All the major Asian markets closed the day on a positive note. The Hang Seng index witnessed positive closing, up by 423 points. Taiwan Index and Shanghai Composite closed in the green territory, up by 67 points and 11 points respectively. However Nikkei market closed in the negative territory in today’s session, down by 89 points.     

Buzzer: Asian Paints was up by more than 4% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 750. If the stock opens above this level, it may touch the Rs 770/790 mark in the next few sessions.

Nifty Future sustained above 8300 mark, however 8360/8420 levels will be the major hurdles for further trade.
