Indices Close On A Negative Note, IT Dives

The Indian markets saw some profit booking in last hour of the trading session. In today’s session, IT stocks like Mindtree, Tech Mahindra, TCS and HCL Technologies witnessed a deep cut to drag the benchmark indices on the lower side. Bankex, Metals and Healthcare also closed on a negative note. The Nifty ended down by 17 points at 8378 whereas Sensex closed 45 points down at 27842.

In today’s session, IT stocks like Mindtree, Tech Mahindra, TCS and HCL Technologies witnessed a deep cut to drag the benchmark indices on the lower side. Bankex, Metals and Healthcare also closed on a negative note. The Nifty ended down by 17 points at 8378 whereas Sensex closed 45 points down at 27842.
The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the positive side as the day ended with 1561 shares in green and 1421 shares in the red zone.
Top Nifty Gainers: Maruti Suzuki gained 2.63% in today’s trade, followed by Tata Motors, Tata Steel, L&T and IDFC.
Top Nifty Losers: DLF closed the day lower by 2.44%, followed by Dr Reddy’s Labs, Bharti Airtel, Hindalco and HCL Tech.
The sectoral indices closed on a mixed note. IT stocks were hammered in today’s session, down by 108 points. Bankex and Metals also closed in the negative territory, down by 50 points each. Healthcare, Oil & Gas also closed in the negative territory. However Auto index was up in today’s trade, by 213 points. Capital Goods and Consumer Durables were up more than 100 points each.
All the major Asian markets closed the day on a negative note. The Hang Seng index witnessed closing, down by 136 points. Taiwan Index, Nikkei and Straits Times closed in the red territory, down around 50 points each. However Shanghai Composite market closed in the positive territory in today’s session, up by 116 points.
Buzzer: Maruti Suzuki was up by more than 2.5% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 3440. If the stock opens above this level, it may touch the Rs 3470/3500 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty Future closed on negative mark, though it sustained above 8400 level. Going ahead 8370 and 8330 levels will be the immediate supports.
