Markets Witness Lacklustre Trade To End in Red

The Indian markets closed the day on a negative note after witnessing lacklustre trade in most part of the day. The main draggers for the day are the FMCG, IT, Teck and Banking indices while some support is provided by indices like Realty and Capital Goods indices. The Sensex closed the day in red declining 53.12 points or 0.29 percentage points to close at 18,401.82. Nifty ends the day at 5530.65 gaining 9.55 points or 0.17 percentage points. Market breadth was negative with 1,353 advances against 1,602 declines on BSE. On the global front, European stocks fell to their lowest level in a month as a retreat in auto and construction-related companies offset takeover activity in the energy industry. U.S. futures were little changed, while Asian shares fell.
