Indices Ends with Nominal Gains

The Indian markets witnessed choppy trade after the mid-market session. While sectors like Consumer Durables, Healthcare and Auto provided some strength, simultaneously Bankex and Metals ended with negative note. The Nifty ended with gain by 1.8 points at 8609 and Sensex up by 17 points at 28463.

The Indian markets witnessed choppy trade after the mid-market session. While sectors like Consumer Durables, Healthcare and Auto provided some strength, simultaneously Bankex and Metals ended with negative note. The Nifty ended with gain by 1.8 points at 8609 and Sensex up by 17 points at 28463. 

The advance-decline ratio ended on the positive side in the closing session. On the NSE, 1432 shares closed in green, while 1403 shares ended the day in red.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: BHEL closed the day with the top gains on the NSE, up by 2.2%. Tech Mahindra, M&M, Ultra Tech Cement and ITC were the others that ended higher.

Top 5 Nifty Losers: Asian Paints was the top loser, down by 2.67%, followed by HDFC, Coal India, Ambuja Cement and HUL.

Most of the indices ended in the green. Consumer Durables was the top gainer for the day, up by 209 points. It was closely followed by Healthcare and Auto which were up by 121 points and 98 points respectively. IT and Capital Goods also saw good strength up around 50 points each. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps were up in the range of 50 points to 20 points. However Banking and Metals closed on lower ends down by 84 points and 40 points respectively.

In the Asian markets, the Nikkei ended higher by 50 points. The Hang Seng also closed up by 252 points. The Taiwan and Shanghai Composite also ended on a positive note.

Buzzers: Tech Mahindra is gearing-up for after- rupee depreciation. The stock surged by 2.1% and hit a high closing at Rs 505.

The Nifty Future closed the near pivot level which is 8650. Tomorrow’s opening will decide further move.
