Wonderla Holidays profitability increases during Q1FY16

Wonderla Holidays (WHL) recently declared its June 2015 result. The company's net sales increased by 5.46 per cent to Rs 67.21 crore in Q1FY16 as compared to same period in the previous fiscal year. 

Wonderla Holidays (WHL) recently declared its June 2015 result. The company's net sales increased by 5.46 per cent to Rs 67.21 crore in Q1FY16 as compared to same period in the previous fiscal year. Its total expenditure increased by 7.55 per cent amounting to Rs 26.92 crore in Q1FY16 on yearly basis. WHL's total expenditure increased mainly due to a 13.14 per cent increment in operating expenses, 4.36 per cent increment in purchase of traded goods during the quarter.

WHL's EBITDA rose by 4.11 per cent to Rs 40.29 crore in Q1FY16 as compared to same period in previous fiscal. However, the EBITDA margin of the company contracted by 78 basis points to 59.94 per cent in Q1FY16 on yearly basis. Its EBIT increased by 3.19 per cent to Rs 35.89 crore in Q1FY16 on yearly basis though its depreciation expense increased by 12.24 per cent to reach Rs 4.4 crore during the quarter. WHL's PBT increased by 16.81 per cent to Rs 42.95 crore in Q1FY16 on yearly basis as interest and dividend income increased by 244.96 per cent to Rs 7.02 crore during the quarter. Net profit of the company increased by 12.88 per cent to Rs 28.04 crore in Q1FY16 as compared to same period in previous financial year. Its net profit margin expanded by 274 basis points to 41.72 per cent in Q1FY16 on yearly basis.

Considering segment wise revenue WHL earned about 84.94 per cent from Amusement Park segment, 4.69 per cent from Resorts segment and remaining 10.37 per cent from Others segment during June 2015 quarter.

WHL's shareholding pattern indicates that FII holdings expanded by 19 basis points to 9.13 per cent and DII holdings also expanded by 10 basis points to 1.98 per cent during June 2015 quarter. The share price of the company on BSE increased by 2.4 per cent and trading at Rs 267.5 on intraday basis.

WHL's Hyderabad Theme park Project construction is going on according to plan. The company utilized Rs 16.17 crore out of Rs 170 crore IPO funds during June 2015 quarter for the new amusement park in Hyderabad. It is expected to open during Q1FY17.Wonderla Hyderabad will be the first large-scale tourism project to open after the formation of Telangana state.

WHL has three resorts and amusement park properties in India. The properties include: Bangalore Amusement Park, Kochi Amusement Park, and Bangalore Resort. Bangalore Amusement Park and Kochi Amusement Park, are family based amusement and entertainment parks, and offer services to visitors. Bangalore Amusement Park also has the Bangalore Resort attached to its property. WHL offers Dry rides, Water rides, Thrill rides, Kids rides on both the amusement parks at Bangalore and Kochi.
