BSIV To Be Compulsory From April 2017 Across The Country

It is important to note that only BS IV vehicles are allowed in NCR and other major cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmadabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad including Secunderabad, Kanpur, Pune, Surat, Agra, Lucknow and Sholapur since April 2010 and further 20 cities were added to this list in April this year.
Automobile companies have to follow Bharat Stage IV compliance across the country from April 1, 2017. Ministry of Road Transport & Highway has notified that only BSIV compliant four wheelers would be manufactured in the country from April 2017 and issued two other dates for different region for this deadline. As far as states like J&K, Punjab, Haryana, HP, Uttrakhand etc. are concerned, the deadline is October 1, 2015, where as for Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Odisha and the Union territories of Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, districts of Mumbai, Thane and Pune in the State of Maharashtra and districts of Surat, Valsad, Dangs and Tapi in the State of Gujarat the deadline is April 1, 2016.
October 2015 deadline has been finalized for various districts of UP like Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnaur, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Rampur, Muradabad, Aligarh, Badaun, Bareilly, Mathura, Mahamayanagar, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Etawah, Mainpuri, Pilibhit, Shamli, Sambhal and Farrukabad. Automobile companies now have to put in place manufacturing facility that produces BSIV compliant vehicles.
It is important to note that only BS IV vehicles are allowed in NCR and other major cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmadabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad including Secunderabad, Kanpur, Pune, Surat, Agra, Lucknow and Sholapur since April 2010 and further 20 cities were added to this list in April this year. As per the notification only those newly manufactured four-wheeled vehicles, which are compliant with the BS-IV standards will be allowed to register and move on roads with effect from the notified dates in the notified areas.
The Government has made it mandatory due to the fact that e- supply of BS-IV complaint petroleum fuels are now available in these areas and these specifications will further reduce the emissions of Carbon Mono-oxide(CO), Hydrocarbon (HC), Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) and Sulphur (SOx) which are much less in BS-IV fuel as compared to BS III fuel.
