Maruti Suzuki August sales growth is 6.4 per cent

Maruti Suzuki sold 117864 vehicles in the month of August 2015, showing a growth of 6.4 per cent on yearly basis. The growth was primarily driven by Ciaz, S-Cross and Alto Automatic. There was big fall in compact car sales and even exports were lower that impacted overall sales growth. Exports in this month of August were down by 11.1 per cent at 11083 units compared to 12474 units in July.

In August 2015 domestic sales increased by 8.6 percent to Rs 1.06 lakh units compared to August 2014. Out of those passenger cars sales contributes 35 per cent to total sales, which rose by 4.4 per cent year-on-year to 86454 units. Passenger car sales were impacted by compact car sales. Compact cars sales like Swift, Ritz, Celerio and Dzire cars has decreased by 11.3 per cent while mini car segment like Alto, Wagon R reported 8.6 per cent growth of 37,665 units. Sales of mid size cars rose by 8212 per cent to 4156 vehicles, driven by Ciaz launched in October 2014 this segment also included SX4 car.
Utility vehicles sales increased by 42.7 per cent to 7836 units, driven by S-Cross launched in August. Ertiga and Gypsy also fall under this segment. Maruti sold 12491 vans including Omni, Eeco in August, higher by 25 per cent over 9990 units sold in last year August.
Last month in July, Maruti Suzuki has registered a strong 20.1 per cent growth in July sales that was also largely impacted by passenger cars sales.
Maruti shares indicated big jump up in last three months because of its improving sales. Its shares have increased around 18 per cent in last three months. Today on September 01, 2015, Maruti Suzuki India was trading at Rs 4131, down by 0.88 per cent.
