Nifty Crosses 7900, Hindalco Up 3.5%

The headline Indian indices are holding their morning gains at their current levels. The Nifty is trading up by 23 points at 7907 and the Sensex is 71 points higher at 26029. Both the indices are trading up in the range of 0.20-0.30 percent.

The advance-decline ratio is on the negative side. On the NSE, 1198 shares are trading in the green and 1204 shares are in red.
Top Nifty Gainers: Hindalco is leading the gainers list so far, up by 3.3%. Bank Of Baroda, PNB, Vedanta and ICICI Bank are also trading higher.
Top Nifty Losers: Idea Cellular is trading lower by 1.9%, followed by GAIL, Reliance, BPCL and Power Grid Corp.
10 out of the 13 sectoral indices are trading in the green. Bankex is the top gainer, up by 225 points. Capital Goods is up by 153 points, IT and Metals has gained around 50 points each. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps are also trading on a positive note. However Consumer Durabales, FMCG and Healthcare witnessed some profit booking.
The Asian markets are trading with negative cues. Hang Seng is the top loser, down by 391 points. The Nikkei, is down by 60 points. The Shanghai, KOSPI and Taiwan Weighted are all lower.
Buzzers: Hindalco opened trades on a positive note today, and hit a new high of Rs 79. Mid-session, the stock broke a major resistance at Rs 80. If it closes above this level, the stock may see a further up-move.
The Nifty Future is sustaining above the 7900 mark. However, it is showing a major resistance to the technical level of 8000. If it closes above this level one may consider it as a fresh breakout for further move.
