Thursday Thunder: Markets make investors somewhat happy

The Indian markets witnessed some sort of a bounce back on Thursday after indices took vital support on lower levels. Capital goods, IT and metals were being the key gainers in today’s session. However midcaps, smallcaps and healthcare stocks ended on a negative note. Nifty ended on 42 points up at 7404 and the Sensex ended on 115 points up at 24338. Both the indices were up around 0.5 percent.

However midcaps, smallcaps and healthcare stocks ended on a negative note. Nifty ended on 42 points up at 7404 and the Sensex ended on 115 points up at 24338. Both the indices were up around 0.5 percent.
The advance-decline ratio ended negative today. On the NSE, 1034 shares closed in green, while 1620 shares ended the day in red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Vedanta closed with highest top gains, up by 9.8%. Cairn India, Tata Power, ONGC and Hindalco were the others trading higher.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: Idea Cellular was down by 3.3% today, followed by Lupin, Yes Bank, NTPC and Cipla.
10 of the 13 sectors ended in the green. Capital Goods were up by 232 points, Metals and IT gained 161 points and 101 points respectively. Auto was 85 points higher. However Mid-Caps and Small-Caps were both down by 18 points and 79 points respectivly.
The Asian markets closed on a mixed note. The Nikkei was lowest, down by 146 points and Hang Seng ended 191 points higher. Shanghai Composite and KOSPI were also in the green zone.
Buzzers: Cairn India stock turned volatile and closed with handsome gains, up 6.03% at Rs 123.
Nifty Futures took vital support at 7250/7200 levels in year daily chart. If its cross 7500, it may see more gain.
