Choppy indices end on day’s high

In continuation of the volatile scenario seen over the last few days, the Indian markets closed trades on a positive note on Wednesday. After mid-session, the indices saw an excellent up-move till the closing session. The Nifty ended higher by 60 points at 7108 ; and Sensex was up by 189 points at 23381.

After mid-session, the indices saw an excellent up-move till the closing session. The Nifty ended higher by 60 points at 7108 ; and Sensex was up by 189 points at 23381.
Both indices ended higher around 0.85 percent. The market breadth was positive this morning, with 1107 advances and 1442 declines on the NSE.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Adani Ports was the top gainer for today’s session, up by 6.06%, followed by Bank Of Baroda, Vedanta, BPCL and Dr Reddys Labs.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: ICICI Bank ended lower by 2.9%. Among the other stocks closing lower were Yes Bank, Coal India, Lupin and Cipla.
11 out of the 13 sectoral indices ended the day in positives. Healthcare was the top gainer and surged by 235 points. Auto was up by 167 points, Oil & Gas gained 116 points and Capital Goods gained 112 points. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps were both higher by 30 points.
In Asia, the Hang Seng saw a nominal loss and witnessed a down move of 197 points. Nikkei and Straits times too ended with a negative bias. However Taiwan index and Shanghai Composite closed on a positive note.
Buzzer: The Adani Port stock has surged on some positive cues. The scrip was up by 6% today and closed above the technical level of Rs 210. If the stock holds these gains, it may move up to Rs 225/240 in the next few trading sessions.
Nifty Futures has given a bullish crossover on an intraday basis at the 7070 level and closed near 7100. This indicates positive moves ahead.
