Immediate after union finance minister, Arun Jaitley tabled budget for fiscal year 2016-17 which though did not attract much cheer from the country’s stock markets as the markets closed in red, prime minister Narendra Modi congratulated his colleague for union budget.

The Prime Minister who was seen listening to his cabinet colleague’s each of the words spoken in Parliament on Monday morning till afternoon, said, women, farmers and rural India has been the focus of Union Budget 2016 and important steps have been taken in budget 2016 in the direction of doubling farmers' income by 2022. Modi also said that the budget reflects his government’s commitment to electrify villages by 2018. “You must have seen that around Rs. 2 lakh crores has been allocated for infrastructure in Union Budget 2016 and the housing sector will be strengthened and this will boost our dream of Housing for All,” he said. The Prime Minister also said in the health sector the government has taken many initiatives. “We want to stand shoulder to shoulder with people in times of illness. For us primary education is very important. A qualitative transformation of the education sector is what we are giving priority to,” the PM added reacting on his government’s third budget.
