Markets opened with hopes, ended depressing

 Indian equity markets witnessed volatile trades in Tuesday’s session. Indices shown handsome rallies almost 1% from opening session. However the markets did not manage to hold to the gains and closed on a flat note. The Nifty ended with nominal gain of 13 points to close at 7512 and Sensex ended in red losing 5 points at 24677.

However the markets did not manage to hold to the gains and closed on a flat note. Indices recorded highest turnover as compared to trading sessions in last few weeks. The Nifty ended with nominal gain of 13 points to close at 7512 and Sensex ended in red losing 5 points at 24677. 

The advance-decline ratio ended on the negative side in the closing session. On the NSE, 1291 shares closed in green, while 1319 shares ended the day in red.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Ambuja Cement closed the day as the top gainer, up by 5.8%. BPCL, Tech Mahindra, BHEL and GAIL were the others that ended on a higher note.

Top 5 Nifty Losers: Lupin closed the day as the top loser, down by 4.3%, followed by HDFC, Cipla, Tata Steel and HDFC bank.

On the sectoral front 4 of 13 sectors closed in red. Healthcare ended as the top loser for the day, down by 193 points. Auto and bankex indices were down by 33 points and 10 points respectively. While mid-caps and small-caps were up in the range of 50 points each. Oil & gas and capital goods saw good buying and ended the day gaining 150 points and 132 points respectively.

In the Asian markets, Hang Seng closed up by 246 points. Taiwan, Shanghai Composite and Strait times ended higher by 50 points. However Nikkei closed lower by 38 points. 

Buzzers: Ambuja Cement up by 5 percent to closed above Rs 215. If its cross Rs 220 level may see more up move up to 230. 

The Nifty Future closed below 7500 level. From last few sessions it has not given any fresh breakup or break down indicating more consolidating phase.
