Company claims that this unit is state of the art facility and 600 MW rating sets comprise a 4 cylinder turbine, which is designed in-house, amply demonstrating the engineering prowess of BHEL. Interestingly so far, the company has contracted 21 sets of 600 MW each across the country and of that 15 have already been commissioned.

Public Sector turbine manufacturer,  Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has successfully commissioned its second 600 MW coal-based thermal power plant in Telangana. This unit has been commissioned at upcoming 2x600 MW Singareni Thermal Power Project (TPP) located in Adilabad district. Importantly this is the first project  of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), which is India's second largest coal mining company and with the commissioning of this unit, SCCL has successfully diversified into the power generation business.

Significant for BHEL, company has now commissioned its second thermal plant in Telangana as three month ago it had commissioned a 600 MW thermal power plant at Kakatiya in Telangana in December. Moreover second unit of Singareni TPP is also in an advanced stage of construction and is expected to be commissioned shortly and also is being commissioned by BHEL. BHEL management has recently made a vital decision to make provision for all the orders present in the orderbook and situation on the ground is now improving as far as commissioning and new order placement is concerned.

Interestingly so far, the company has contracted 21 sets of 600 MW each across the country and of that 15 have already been commissioned. A large number of similar sets ensure easy availability of spares and operator's familiarity. Telangana is now proving to be a significant state for BHEL as 85% of the coal-based power stations, amounting to 5,180 MW, having been commissioned by BHEL.

As per BHEL release, Telangana Government has recently placed orders on BHEL for executing around 6,000 MW of thermal power projects in the state, on Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) basis.
