Markets End on a Flat Note

 Post Market Summary

The markets witnessed some buying interest in the wee hours of trade to close on a flat note. The Sensex swung in a range of nearly 200 points before ending virtually unchanged at 20104. The main gainers are the Power, Capital Goods and Realty indices. The main draggers are the Oil & Gas, IT and Teck indices. The Sensex closed the day in red declining 12.52 points to close at 20,104.86.  Nifty ends the day at 6,029.50 declining 6.15 points or 0.10 percentage points. Market breadth was negative with 1,325 advances against 1,621 declines on BSE. On the global front, U.K. stocks declined for a second day as mining companies fell with base metals prices amid continued concern about the creditworthiness of Europe’s most indebted nations. Vedanta Resources Plc, Lonmin Plc and Antofagasta Plc slid as copper fell on the London Metal Exchange. Thomas Cook Group Plc lost 6.4 percent after the tour operator said higher costs will reduce earnings. JJB Sports Plc slumped 12 percent as the retailer reported “more volatile” sales since August.
