US president unexpectedly meets Fed Chair: Interest rates getting hiked in US?

With global economy struggling to grow and central banks of various economies juggling with interest rates to infuse price stability and propel credit growth, an important meeting took place on Monday  between US president Barak Obama and Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen.

President Barack Obama and Federal Reserve chair discussed the US economy condition and outlook for near term as well as long term.labour market issues and potential risks to the economy both US and Global were discussed. The meeting has importance for markets as global markets are keenly tracking what Janet Yellen does with the US interest rates. 

Global economy is grappling with a negative interest rate environment in major economies across globe, be it Eurozone, Switzerland, Denmark and Japan. One thing can be concluded that when an economy has a negative interest rate it does not reflect slowing growth rate but it confirms negative growth rate in the economy. With such major economies grappling with new normal negative interest rate environment all eyes are now placed on the US interest rate decision. US economy has shown signs of recovery and increasing in interest rate may not be ruled out to achieve inflation target. Indian markets along with global markets have shown a tendency to correct whenever the US Fed has increased interest rates.
