Markets remain choppy; end higher

The Indian markets have been witnessing choppy trades from morning trade. Indices like Capital Goods and Auto provided some strength and were up by 208 points and 102 points respectively. The Asian markets closed in red territory, though the Nifty ended up by 28 points at 7735; and Sensex was up by 160 points at 25262. The indices ended the day higher by 0.38% and 0.64% respectively.

The Asian markets closed in red territory, though the Nifty ended up by 28 points at 7735; and Sensex was up by 160 points at 25262. The indices ended the day higher by 0.38% and 0.64% respectively.
The advance-decline ratio ended on the negative side. On the NSE, 1228 shares closed in green, while 1320 shares were in the red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: HDFC closed the day with the top gains, up by 2.9%. Tech Mahindra, BHEL, Tata Motors and L&T were among the other key gainers.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: Idea Cellular was the top loser, down by 5.3%, followed by Adani Ports, Ultra Tech Cement, Bharti Airtel and Bharti Infratel.
By the end of the day, 10 out of 13 sectors remained in the green zone. Capital Goods was the top gainer, up by 208 points. Auto was up by 102 points. FMCG and Healthcare held their gains, and were up by 60 points each. However Consumer Durables and Oil & Gas witnessed some downward moves by 53 points and 15 points respectively. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also closed nominally in the negative.
The Asian markets closed on a negative note. The Hang Seng market was the top loser, down by 76 points. KOSPI and Straits Times also ended nominally in the negative.
Buzzers: Idea Cellular crashed by over 5.3% today and made a low of Rs 111. If it opens below Rs 110, it may see trade below Rs 100 mark.
The Nifty index was strongly volatile on both sides. The 7800 level will be a pivot for the next trading session.
