Markets End on a Negative Note

 Post Market Summary

Markets seesawed for the most part of the day and ended in the negative on back of weakness in FMCG and Banking stocks. The main draggers for the day are the FMCG and Metal indices. While some support is provided by the Consumer Durables and Power indices. The Sensex closed the day in red declining 68.02 points or 0.33 percentage points to close at 20,407.71.  Nifty ends the day at 6145.80 declining 13.65 points or 0.22 percentage points. Market breadth was positive with 1,684 advances against 1,290 declines on BSE. On the global front, European stocks rose as Tesco Plc reported better-than-estimated profit and TUI Travel Plc said results will reach its yearly forecasts, indicating company earnings may withstand the region’s debt crisis. U.S. index futures and Asian shares climbed.
