Day ends in nominal gains

The NSE 50 and the BSE 30 indices opened majorly in the positive, but remained flat till the end of day’s trades. There were no major triggers to take them in any direction as such. The Nifty ended 6 points higher on 8273, while the Sensex was up by 10 points at 27020. The indices ended up by 0.08-0.04 per cent respectively.

The advance-decline ratio ended on the positive side in the closing session. On the NSE, 1564 shares closed in green, while 1051 shares ended the day in red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Tata Power closed with the highest gains, up by 2.6%. HCL Tech, Power Grid, BHEL and Bank of Baroda were among the others trading in the positive.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: Kotak Mahindra finished the day down by 1.6%, followed by Infosys, Zee Entertain, Adani Ports and Asian Paints.
10 out of the 13 sectors closed in the green. Capital Goods was the top gainer up by 257 points. This was followed by Auto, up by 86 points, and Consumer Durables, which gained 33 points. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps were also up by 58 points and 100 points, respectively. However, IT, Healthcare and Bankex were seen trading lower.
The Nikkei market was the top gainer among its Asian peers, gaining 155 points. While Hang Seng was down by 30 points. KOSPI and Taiwan Weighted also remained in the green.
Buzzer: Tata Power saw superb up move, and came above Rs 75. If it continues with current scenario, it may touch Rs 80-Rs 84.
The Nifty traded in a very narrow range 8270-8299. Tomorrow’s opening may give some direction to the index.
