Nifty struggles:  Still holds 8300 mark

The NSE 50 and The BSE 30 shares witnessed some amount of selling pressure in Friday’s session. Capital Goods and Oil & Gas dragged the benchmark on the lower note. Bankex, Metals and Consumer Durables also were surrounded by profit booking scenario. The Nifty ended down by 14 points at 8323. The Sensex closed at 29126, down by 74 points. The indices ended in red by 0.18-0.27 per cent each.

Bankex, Metals and Consumer Durables also were surrounded by profit booking scenario. The Nifty ended down by 14 points at 8323. The Sensex closed at 29126, down by 74 points. The indices ended in red by 0.18-0.27 per cent each.

The advance-decline ratio ended on negative note. On the NSE,1156 shares closed in green, while 1555 shares ended the day in red.

Top Nifty Gainers: Tata Motors closed the day as the top gainer on the NSE as it closed higher by 2.6%, followed by Asian Paints, Aurobindo Parma, Hero MotoCorp and IndusInd Bank.

Top Nifty Losers: Idea Cellular closed the day as the top loser on the NSE as it closed lower by 2.6% followed by GAIL, Bharti Airtel, Bank of Baroda and Bharti Infratel.

On the sectoral front, 10 out of the 13 sectors ended in the red. Capital Goods was the top loser as they ended lower by 151 points, followed by Oil & Gas and Bankex, which ended the day lower by 98 points and 61 points respectively. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps were up by 12 points and down by 20 points respectively.

The Asian markets closed on a negative note. The Nikkei was the top loser as it ended the day down by 169 points. While the Hang Seng ended lower by 142 points. The Straits Times and KOSPI too ended on a negative note.

Buzzers: The stock of Tata Motors outperformed the day, closing up by 2.4 per cent to close above technical level of Rs 465. If it continues with current movement it may touch Rs 475 soon.

Nifty Futures has consolidated around 8300-8350 level. Monday’s opening will decide further move.
