Indices on highs, Sensex inching to cross 28,000

The Indian markets were trading in the small range till mid-session. While on the closing buzz benchmark indices showed good strength to close on new highs of 2016. The Nifty ended up by 45 points at 8565 and Sensex was up by 126 points at 27942.
The Indian markets were trading in the small range till mid-session. While on the closing buzz benchmark indices showed good strength to close on new highs of 2016. The Nifty ended up by 45 points at 8565 and Sensex was up by 126 points at 27942.
The advance decline ratio ended on the positive side at the closing buzz. 39 stocks closed with green mark; whereas, 12 stocks closed in red.
Top Nifty Gainers: Grasim was top gainer gain with 2.9% followed by ICICI Bank, Maruti, ZEEL, Power Grid and Tech Mahindra.
Top Nifty Losers: ONGC was top loser with loss of 1.4% followed by INFY, Sun Pharma, M&M, Dr. Reddy's and Wipro.
On the sectoral front, 11 out of the 13 sectors ended in the green. Bankex and Consumer Durables sectors were top gainers and up by 316 points and 259 points respectively. Whereas Mid-Caps and Small-Caps sectors also were up around 100 points each. Capital Goods, Auto, Metals and Oil & Gas also showed good buying. However, Healthcare and IT closed in negative territory.
The Asian markets were quoting positive; Nikkei was up by 154 points. While Hong Kong’s Hang-Seng was up by 238 points. Taiwan and KOSPI also closed in positive territory.
In Europe, FTSE opened up by 13 points, DAX opened 122 points higher, and CAC opened 42 points higher.
Derivative Analysis
The Nifty July futures held on to the 8550 mark at closing. If it sustains above 8500 mark, index may continue with current momentum.
