Benchmark has shed gains; Idea dips by 6.5 %

The Indian markets faced some profit booking on the higher side on closing buzz, as stocks like Oil & Gas, Consumer Durables and Telecom dragged the indices lower. The Nifty ended lower by 32 points at 8508 and Sensex was 89 points down at 27746. The indices ended in the red by 0.32-0.38 per cent each.

The advance decline ratio ended on the negative side at the closing buzz. 17 stocks closed in the green mark; whereas, 34 stocks closed in red.Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Bajaj Auto was top gainer with 2.2% gains, followed by Kotak Bank, Sun Pharma, Infratel and Axis Bank.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: Idea was top loser with loss of 5.7%, followed by ONGC, Bharti Airtel, Bank Of Baroda and HUL.
On the sectoral front, 11 out of the 13 sectors ended in the red. Oil & Gas sector was top loser, down by 164 points. Whereas Consumer Durables and Capital Goods sectors also were down around 100 points each. Mid-caps, Small-caps, Healthcare and Metal were surrounded by profit booking, down by 20 points to 50 points each. However Auto and IT closed in green territory.
The Asian markets were quoting positive; Nikkei was closed for the day. While Hong Kong’s Hang-Seng was up by 143 points. Taiwan and KOSPI also closed in positive territory.
In Europe, FTSE opened up by 28 points; DAX opened 4 points higher; and CAC opened 3 points lower.
Derivative Analysis
The Nifty July futures held the 8500 mark at closing. Going ahead, 8470/8420 levels will be vital supports.
