Sensex crosses 28000; Nifty ends on 52 week high

The benchmark indices saw an excellent up-move and closed trades on a positive note towards the start of July F&O expiry week. The Nifty ended higher by 94 points at 8635 and Sensex was up by 292 points at 28095. All the sectoral indices closed on positive note. Bankex was the top sectoral gainer, up by 351 points.

The advance decline ratio ended on the positive side at the closing buzz. 42 stocks closed with green mark whereas, 9 stocks closed in red.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: BHEL was top gainer with 4.9% gains, followed by Bank Baroda, Maruti, SBIN and Asian Paints. 

Top 5 Nifty Losers: Dr. Reddy's was top loser with loss of 3.8% followed by Grasim, Bajaj Auto, Tata Steel and Hindalco. 

On the sectoral front, 13 out of the 13 sectors ended in the green. Bankex and Auto sector were top gainers and up more than by 351 points and 197 points respectively. Whereas Oil & Gas, Consumer Durables and Capital Goods sector also were up around 150 points each. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also were, up by 120 points each.

The Asian markets were quoting mixed note. Nikkei closed in red, down by 6 points. While Hong Kong’s Hang-Seng was up by 29 points. KOSPI and Shanghai Composite also closed in positive territory.

In Europe, FTSE opened down by 1 point, DAX opened 108 points higher, and CAC opened 33 points higher.

Derivative Analysis

The Nifty July future made bullish crossover after breaking 8600 level. If it sustains above this level, it may see 8750/8800 levels.
