GST wakes up markets; Auto surges by 1.3 %

After opening the day on a positive note the Indian markets witnessed a sideways trade. However some recovery was seen at the closing buzz. Auto and Metals were outperformers of the day as they closed up by 280 points and 142 points respectively. The Sensex ended 16 points higher at 27714; and Nifty was nominally up by 6 points at 8551.

Auto and Metals were outperformers of the day as they closed up by 280 points and 142 points respectively. Mid-caps and Small-caps also closed on the positive mark. The Sensex ended 16 points higher at 27714; and Nifty was nominally up by 6 points at 8551. Both the indices closed with a positive bias around 0.6 per cent each.
Market breadth for the Nifty index was positive and the advance decline ratio also ended on the positive side in today’s trading session. 31 stocks closed with green mark; whereas, only 19 stocks closed in red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Bank of Baroda was top gainer with 5.5% gains, followed by Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Motors DVR and Adani ports.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: Asian Paints was top loser with loss of 1.3%, followed by INFY, Zeel, Lupin and Infratel.
In today’s trading session most of the sectors closed on the green mark and Auto was top gainer by 280 points. While Metals and Healthcare closed on positive note around 142 points and 71 points respectively, followed by Capital Goods, Mid-caps and Small-caps, which also closed in green territory. However Consumer Durables and Bankex closed on the lower ends down by 100 points and 36 points respectively.
The Asian markets were quoting in positive. Japan’s Nikkei was positive, closing up by 171 points. Hong Kong’s Hang-Seng was up by 93 points, while China’s Shanghai Composite closed on the green mark.
European markets were also trading in positive scenario.

Nifty future has sustained above the 8500 mark indicating good strength on lower side.
