The Indian markets staged a smart recovery in the wee hours of trade to close the day on a positive note after remaining most of the part in the red territory. The recovery is mainly led by the IT, Oil & Gas and Realty indices. Consumer Durables, FMCG and Power remained the main draggers for the day. The Sensex closed the day in green gaining 43.84 points or 0.22 percentage points to close at 20,168.89. Nifty ends the day at 6075.95 gaining 13.30 points or 0.22 percentage points. Market breadth was negative with 1,237 advances against 1,709 declines on BSE. On the global front, European stocks were little changed as BHP Billiton Ltd. and Rio Tinto Group scrapped an iron-ore venture, offsetting gains in financial-services companies. Asian shares and U.S. index futures declined.
