Indices hold gains; Idea surges 7.9 %

The Indian markets witnessed a good bounce back on the closing buzz and managed to hold its gains. IT index was the top gainer, closing up by 189 points, followed by Banks. The Sensex ended 4 points higher at 27990; and Nifty closed nominally up by 3 points at 8632.
The Indian markets witnessed a good bounce back on the closing buzz and managed to hold its gains. IT index was the top gainer, closing up by 189 points, followed by Banks. The Sensex ended 4 points higher at 27990; and Nifty closed nominally up by 3 points at 8632. Both the indices closed with a positive bias of 0.02 per cent.
The advance-decline ratio ended in the negative. On the NSE, 24 shares closed in green; while 27 shares remained in the red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Idea was top gainer with 7.9% gains, followed by Bank of Baroda, Infy, HCL Tech and TCS.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: BHEL was top loser with loss of 4.7%, followed by BPCL, Tata Power, NTPC and Auro Pharma.
In today’s trading session majority of the sectors closed on the red mark. Oil & Gas and Capital Goods were top losers, closing down by more than 150 points. Mid-Caps, Small-Caps , FMCG and Healthcare also closed on a negative note. However, IT stocks pulled the benchmark and IT index up by 189 points.
The Asian markets were quoting in the mix. Japan’s Nikkei was negative, closing down by 100 points. Hong Kong’s Hang-Seng was up by 1 point, and Taiwan closed on the green mark.
European markets were also trading in a positive scenario.
Derivative Analysis
Nifty future took support at lower levels of 8580/8540. If it sustains above 8650 mark, it may see 8720/8750 levels.
