Markets choppy, end on flat note

The Indian markets have been witnessing choppy trades till the closing hour. Indices like banks and FMCG dragged the benchmark on the lower side. The Nifty ended one point up at 8777 and Sensex was down 15 points at 28507. The indices ended the day lower by 0.01-0.06 per cent respectively.

On closing, the market breadth was positive. On the NSE, 27 shares closed in the green and 23 shares ended the day in the red.

The sectoral indices closed on a mixed note today. FMCG and banks were the highest losers as they lost around 50 points by the day's end. However auto and consumer durable were up by around 56 points and 107 points respectively. IT and metals closed in positive territory.

In the Asian markets, the Nikkei closed up by 315 points. The Hang Seng index also ended on the positive side with 139 points. Taiwan and KOSPI ended on a positive note and so did European markets.

Derivative Analysis

Nifty future closed at vital support at 8800. It may show some strength if it manages to sustain at the same level.
