The company's premium hatchback-Baleno is manufactured exclusively in India and has become the first car to be exported to Japan.
Maruti Suzuki India started exports to Europe in 1987-88, but the number of cars exported was very less. In FY116, the company's top five exported models were Alto, Swift, Celerio, Baleno, and Ciaz. Among export destinations, Sri Lanka, Chile, Philippines, Peru and Bolivia emerged as the top markets for Maruti Suzuki's vehicles.
The company's newly launched light commercial vehicle-Super Carry is also exported to South Africa, Tanzania, and will be exported to SAARC countries in future.
The share price of Maruti Suzuki India increased by 0.38 per cent on bourses in early trades and is trading at Rs 5607.4 on an intra-day basis.
