Late Recovery Helps Markets to Close in Green

The recovery in the later part of the day helped the market to close on a positive note. In the morning all the sectoral indices were trading in red. The recovery was mainly led by the Metal and Auto indices that closed the day with a gain of more than one percentage points. The main draggers are the Banking and Consumer Durables indices closing the day with a decline of more than one percentage points. The Sensex closed the day in green gaining 65.50 points or 0.33 percentage points to close at 19,930.64. Nifty ends the day at 5998.80 gaining 10.10 points or 0.17 percentage points. Market breadth was negative with 1,057 advances against 1,883 declines on BSE. On the global front, European stocks rose for a second day amid speculation that Ireland is likely to accept a bailout and as investors awaited data that may show the world’s biggest economy is strengthening. Asian shares and U.S. futures gained.
