Gold ETFs and bond to be traded on BSE, NSE on Dhanteras in extended sessions

Come Diwali and Gold as an asset class starts getting attention and why not, after all, the precious metal is outshining equity indices.

National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be extending its trading session for Gold Exchange Traded Funds and Sovereign Gold Bond on October 28 till 7 p.m on Dhanteras.  October 30 is the Laxmi Pujan day and the Muhurat trading session will happen on the same day from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm.

BSE said on Tuesday , it will conduct a special trading session in Gold ETF securities and Soveriegn Gold Bond on Dhanteras after the regular market hours from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm. The extended trading session will resume at 4.30 pm on BSE and will continue till 7.00 pm.

Dhanteras along with Diwali and Akshaya Tritiya is the time when Indians consider buying Gold  auspicious.  Gold ETF investing is a global phenomenon and is slowly catching up in India. Gold ETF’s are like gold mutual funds that track gold prices. Sovereign Gold Bonds are essentially the government securities denominated in grams of gold. Both Golf ETF and Sovereign Gold Bonds offer alternatives to holding gold in physical form. All the leading asset management companies like Axis MF, ICICI Prudential MF, Birla Sun Life MF, UTI MF and HDFC MF have Gold ETF securities that will be trading on the auspicious day of Dhanteras in the extended trading session.
