Dish TV’s top line boosts in Q2FY17

Dish TV has declared its Q2FY17 results on Friday after market hours. The company’s revenue has increased by 9.6 per cent to Rs 779 crore in Q2FY17 as compared to same period in previous financial year.

The company’s revenue has increased by 9.6 per cent to Rs 779 crore in Q2FY17 as compared to same period in previous financial year. It has added 259000 new subscribers in Q2FY17, taking its net subscriber base to 1.51 crore. Dish TV’s EBITDA too has risen by 3.6 per cent to Rs 264 crore in Q2FY17 on a yearly basis. However, the company’s net profit has decreased by 19.4 per cent to Rs 70.1 crore in Q2FY17 as compared to same period in previous fiscal. Its average revenue per user (ARPU) stands at Rs 162 as against Rs 161 in Q2FY16.

Dish TV has introduced a new HD scheme enabling customers to opt for a HD box over a Standard Definition by paying an additional Rs 120 only, to get the HD hardware. During the quarter, the company added 32 new educational channels launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development on its platform.

The share price of Dish TV increased by 4.28 per cent on bourses; and closed at Rs 100 on muhurat trading on Sunday.
