NSE MD & CEO to be WFE chairperson

At the 56th general assembly in Cartegeba, Columbia on November 3, members of the World Federation of Exchange (WFE) have chosen Ms Chitra Ramkrishna, Managing Director & CEO, NSE as the chairperson of the Board of WFE.

At the 56th general assembly in Cartegeba, Columbia on November 3, members of the World Federation of Exchange (WFE) have chosen Ms Chitra Ramkrishna, Managing Director & CEO, NSE as the chairperson of the Board of WFE.

WFE which represents more than 200 market infrastructure providers including exchanges and CCPs, appointed three new officers of the Board, in line with the organisation’s customary geographical rotation of officers every two years.

Ms Chitra Ramkrishna, Managing Director & CEO, NSE, and Chairperson, WFE, said: “I am honoured to be confirmed as the WFE Chairperson, and look forward to working with my colleagues over my term.  The WFE is the global voice of the exchange and CCP industry, and as such, represents the views and perspectives of some of the most systemically important Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs) around the world. I therefore feel privileged to be part of the team helping to steward the organisation through its next phase of development.”

While Ms Chitra became the new Chairperson of WFE, Dr Urs Rüegsegger, Group CEO, SIX is the Vice Chairman and Mr William Brodsky, Executive Chairman of the Board, Chicago Board Options Exchange is the Working Committee Chairman of WFE.

This will be the first time than any Indian will be the chairperson of WFE and also the first time that any lady will be the chairperson of WFE.
