BHEL turns profitable in Q2; revenue increases by 12%

State run power equipment and engineering major, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has reported its second quarter earnings on Tuesday, November 8, during market hours. Company in second quarter has turned profitable as it has posted profits of Rs 109 crore against losses suffered by the company last year during the same fiscal.

Income from operations for the quarter ending September 30, have seen an increase of 12.2 per cent in Q2 at Rs 6664.45 compared to Rs 5937.97 crore achieved in the same period of the last fiscal. Revenue has increased owing to greater order executions in the current quarter. On the operational front too EBITDA for the quarter has turned the corner as it became profitable at Rs 155.14 crore as against loss incurred in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal.

BHEL said outstanding order-book position is at Rs 1.03 lakh crore at the end of September 2016.

Reacting to a good set of Q2 numbers, shares of BHEL have gained in trade by close to three per cent, to trade at Rs 142.85 on NSE.
