The Best and worst IPO picks in 2016

IPO market in 2016 was the hotbed of investor activities. As many as 24 companies hit the primary markets in the year till December 1, 2016 by raising close to Rs 23,337 crore in funds, with the largest mount being raised by ICICI Prudential at Rs 6057 crore.

There were IPOs from across sectors like consumer food, software, insurance, metals, textile, bank, etc.

During the year, there were IPOs which generated maximum wealth for the investors, however, there were also ones which led to deterioration of wealth.

Best Returns:

Infibeam Incorporation- 150 %

Advanced Enzymes- 78 %

Ujjivan Financials- 53 %

Worst Returns:

HPL Electric- 45 %

Quick Heal Tech- 24 %

ICICI Prudential- 9 %

Of the total 24 issues hitting the markets, 16 of them listed at a premium pricing on the day of listing in the exchanges.

Quess Corp- 57 %

Thyrocare Technologies- 48 %

Advanced Enzymes- 35 %

Discount on listing:

Precision Camshafts- 12 %

L&T Infotech- 6 %

HPL Electric- 6 %

Issues which generated maximum investor interest in terms of the number of times the issue got subscribed:

Quess Corp- 144 times

Advanced Enzymes- 117 times

Thyrocare Technologies- 74 times

On the other side, there were also issues which just managed to sail through on the final day.

Varun Beverages- 1.04 times

Infibeam Incorporation- 1.11 times

Bharat Wire Ropes- 1.27 times

Infibeam Incorporation has been an exception as it provided the best returns even though it got subscribed the least.
