In a major development amid all the chaos related to demonetisation, head of National Stock Exchange (NSE) Chitra Ramakrishna had snapped all her ties with the Exchange following certain 'internal issues.' She had been heading NSE since over last three years and sources told DSIJ that certain long-standing issues with some other members of the Exchange finally led to her sudden departure from the coveted post. When contacted, a NSE official confirmed the development but declined to share any further detail on the issue. She had served NSE during 2009 and April, 2013 as Head of Listing and in April 2013, she was elevated to the post of Managing Director and CEO of NSE.
Importantly, NSE is slated to finalise the size of its upcoming IPO during a board meeting to be held in the next week and Chitra's sudden resignation may force the Board to finalise such vitals about the IPO at a later stage. Amid all these happenings around the country's markets and economy, this development is being considered a big one even as NSE has initiated the process of looking for a replacement. A chartered accountant by profession, Chitra had earlier also served IDBI and been instrumental in formation of NSE.
