NMDC to divest Nagarnar steel plant

Public sector enterprise, NMDC clarified that government has given in-principle approval to consider strategic disinvestment in its Nagarnar steel plant. NMDC is setting up a 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant in Nagarnar in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. In June, an environment ministry panel gave clearance to a captive iron ore mine in Bastar for the plant. The plant is expected to start trial production by mid-2017. The Bailadila Deposit-4 has mineable iron ore of about 108 mt, having an investment of around Rs 1900 crore.
NMDC also revised prices of Iron Ore w.e.f November 29, 2016. The company’s Lump Ore is priced at Rs 2100 per WMT and Fines at Rs 1860 WMT. The declaration came after market hours on Friday.
The share price of NMDC reduced by 1.02 per cent on bourses and closed at Rs 116.5 on an intraday basis on Friday
