Even as markets have shown signs of recovering post demonetisation and there are several mutual fund schemes reflecting positive gains we have identified three funds that have underperformed the broader markets over the similar period i.e one month.

SBI FMCG Fund (G) -Direct Plan; Sundaram Value Fund -I-Reg (G); and Birla SL Banking & Financial Services Ind-Reg(G) are amongst the worst performers.

These funds are down by anywhere between 7.7 per cent to 8.94 per cent with SBI FMCG Fund recording the worst performance of 8.94 per cent downslide.

It is suffice to suggest that Banking and Financial Services sector and FMCG sector have been the worst hit since demonetisation was announced in the previous month.

Investors may take an informed call on these sectors and investing in these beaten down sector could prove to be profitable.

FMCG sector is one sector that is expected to recover the fastest from the demonetisation along with the banking sector.
