When foes make a flock: Modi ropes in Nilekani to work out exhaustive digital India
DSIJ Intelligence / 08 Dec 2016

PM Modi is making every effort to push digitisation in India and make digital payments popular amongst the masses. To further send a strong message to Indians on digital payments, the prime minister has now roped in a billionaire, high profile member of opposition Indian National Congress party, Nandan Nilekani to help chalk out a path to digital payments in India.
Indians may not be complaining much for the inconvenience caused due to demonetisation and may not mind standing in queues for long hours to withdraw cash from banks and ATMs, believing that demonetisation will indeed help in curbing black money in the economy.
Several economists have slammed the demonetisation move and have suggested that the move will be a huge drag to the Indian economic growth story.
Amidst all the criticism that the current government is facing from opposition and economists across the world, PM Narendra Modi is making every attempt to make the demonetisation decision work for himself, his government, his party and the nation.

The whole idea is to make India a cashless economy and make rural India less cash reliant.
Nandan Nilekani is famously known for successfully implementing the Aadhar project in India. Nandan and a team of 13-person committee will be meeting to work out a plan which will get more Indians to adopt digital payments.
