Indices hold on tight: Nifty ends above 8250

The Indian markets witnessed a good up-move in the day and managed to hold their gains until closing. The Sensex ended 53 points higher at 26747; and Nifty moved up 15 points to 8261. Both the indices closed with a positive bias of 0.18-0.20 per cent.

The advance-decline ratio ended in the negative. On the NSE, 24 shares closed in green, while 27 shares remained in the red.
Majority of the sectoral indices closed on a positive note. Bankex was the outperformer of the day up by 241 points. While IT and FMCG index witnessed superb up move, moving up around 45 points each. Mid-cap, Small-Caps and Oil & Gas also closed in positive territory. However, Auto and Capital Goods ended on a negative note.
In the Asian markets, the Nikkei closed up by 230 points. While the Hang Seng index ended down by 100 points. The Shanghai Composite and Taiwan also ended on a positive note.
European markets were too trading in a positive scenario.
Derivative Analysis
Nifty future closed above 8250 mark. Going ahead 8340/8370 will remain the immediate resistance levels.
