Metals and oil & gas drag the market

Indian capital markets opened on a positive note, but soon thereafter it started trading weak. Nifty was not able to sustain physiological level of 8400.

Indian capital markets opened on a positive note, but soon thereafter it started trading weak. Nifty was not able to sustain physiological level of 8400. BSE Sensex and Nifty indices closed about 0.19 per cent and 0.18 per cent down.

At the closing bell, Nifty ended 14 points up at 8398 and BSE Sensex decreased 52 points to close at 27235. On the NSE, 17 shares closed in the green, while 33 shares ended the day in the red with one remaining unchanged.

Metals and Oil & Gas indices declined 171 and 175 points, respectively. Bankex and Auto lost 13 and 43 points, respectively. However, FMCG and Consumer Durables increased 85 and 17 points. IT also rose 31 points. Mid-cap index remained flat while Small-cap was up by more than 42 points.

The Asian markets closed with a mixed bias. Shanghai and Hang Seng rose 0.17 and 0.54 per cent, respectively. While Nikkei decreased 1.48 per cent, KOSPI increased 0.37 per cent and Taiwan also rose 0.67 per cent.

European markets were trading with a weak bias.

Derivative Analysis

Nifty future closed on a negative note but closed above 8400 mark. Going ahead, 8466/8373 will be the immediate support levels.
