Telecom index closes with gains

BSE Telecom sector outperformed the markets on January 19 with major stocks buzzing on bourses. It traded at 1,160.31 levels, as it was up by 23.14 points or 2.20 per cent.
On January 19, the Indian markets were struggling to stay in the green zone, as it opened in red.
BSE Telecom sector outperformed the markets on January 19 with major stocks buzzing on bourses. It traded at 1,160.31 levels, as it was up by 23.14 points or 2.20 per cent. Bharti Airtel, Tata Communications, Bharti Infratel and Idea were the major stocks which gained grounds on bourses and pushed the sectoral index to higher levels.
Bharti Airtel was up by 2.57 per cent, Tata Communications was up by 2.43 per cent, Bharti Infratel was up by 2.18 per cent and Idea was up by 2.15 per cent. Whereas, GTL Infra was down by 1.97 per cent, CMI was down by 0.64 per cent and Vindya Telelink was down by 0.45 per cent.
Overall, there were 11 advance and 4 declines.
