Cisco Systems Inc. plans to buy AppDynamics Inc., a US business software company for about 3.7 billion dollars, which is one of the largest deals for the company in the past couple of years as it intends to grow in areas outside its core networking business.
To stay ahead of technological developments, Cisco has been trying to shift its focus to areas such as cloud computing.
In the last week, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company also informed that it is buying SimpliVity, a privately held cloud software for 650 million dollars as it is looking forward to expand its position in hybrid cloud platforms.
Before this, Cisco's largest deal was a 1.4 billion dollars acquisition of Jasper, which happened last year. Making software that manages and analyses applications is the main business of AppDynamics, and the company has 2,000 paying customers, which include Citrix System, eHaromony, Kraft Inc, NASDAQ Inc., and Nike Inc.
