TCS unveils smart city technology for Belfort

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Gfi Informatique have unveiled smart city technology for the city of Belfort in France. The company will enhance urban bus transportation using big data analytics and will also support Belfort’s smart city strategy which aims to help local authorities deploy digital transformation projects.

TCS along with Gfi Informatique conducted results and outcome allowed to optimise transportation network and realise savings. It can be duplicated to improve not only transportation but also other major city services such as water, waste collection and electricity.

Gfi Informatique and TCS have worked with the city administrators and public transportation planners to enhance the capture and treatment of large amounts of information using big data analytics.

India has already approved 98 smart cities last year and various projects catering to these smart cities have already started floating tenders in the market. The Union Budget 2017 will also allocate funds for government’s plan of smart cities. TCS will also be in competition and may bag contracts catering to the needs of such smart cities.

The share price of TCS increased 1.1 per cent on the bourses in early trades and is trading at Rs 2337.55 on an intra-day basis.
