The Government of India is launching Aadhaar Pay, which will help consumers and retailers of India to pay and receive money while shopping. All they have to do is use their respective Aadhar number and authenticate payments using bio-metric system.
Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Electronics and IT Minister of India said on Friday, “We are going to start Aadhaar Pay. With this, people will not require to carry their phone for payments. They can visit any merchant, share their Aadhaar number and verify themselves using bio-metrics to pay and receive money."
There are many banks who have joined hands in this movement for Aadhaar Pay and the government is trying to include other banks in this mission towards digital revolution of India. They are planning to launch this service very soon.
This Aadhaar based payment system will also integrate Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM), which is a common platform to transact using unified payment interface (UPI) of different banks.
So far, India has more than 110 crore citizens for whom Aadhaar cards have already been issued, with more than 49 crore users with their bank account linked with their respective Aadhaar numbers. As per the trend, this numbers will increase further, which in turn will surely be very helpful for the government to implement such innovative systems.
